Leadership Osceola

To Prepare, Inspire and Support Leadership for the
Improved Future of Our Community!

WHAT IS LEADERSHIP OSCEOLA?

Leadership Osceola County is an unsurpassed leadership development program that began in 1989. Each year approximately 30 people who represent the diversity of the Osceola County community are inducted into the program.

Over the course of the program participants are introduced to our community, including social services, criminal justice, education, healthcare, governmental services, environment, economic development, community planning/vision, arts and culture. Through real-life experiences, the class learns of the strengths and challenges of the community in which they live and work.

Again this year the program is being professionally facilitated. A seasoned moderator will bring to the program exciting, skill-based knowledge and a new focus on community leadership skills development.

Leadership Osceola County encourages participation from anyone who wants to make a difference in Osceola County. The primary beneficiary will be the Osceola County community.

The Leadership Osceola program kicks off in mid-February with a two-day team building retreat. Comprised of an excursion to a remote Central Florida location, the Friday and Saturday experience is designed to remove the class participants from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and allow their total immersion into the leadership experience. The retreat also serves to bring the leadership program participants together as a group to encourage active participation and camaraderie during the rest of the program.

After successfully completing the challenges presented at the retreat, the remainder of the Leadership Osceola County program proceeds on a bi-weekly basis every other Wednesday. The Wednesday meetings lead the participants through a series of invigorating and insightful daylong experiences that cover a multitude of community-oriented subjects and issues. No stone is left unturned in the pursuit of community orientation and leadership awareness.

The program culminates in late May/early June with an enjoyable graduation ceremony hosted by a Central Florida attraction. Both the Leadership Osceola participants and their guests have a great time when diplomas are presented and dinner is served.

Sponsorships are needed to allow valuable participation from non-profits, small business and minority communities. Complete information on sponsorship opportunities is available through dsines@communityvision.org
