WHAT IS LEADERSHIP LEGENDS?
Community
Vision has been creating new leaders through its leadership
programs since 1989. As we strive to create a more leaderful
community, we recognize the rich experience and vast heritage
that our "golden" age residents have to offer. Therefore,
we are launching a Senior Leadership Program called Leadership
Legends. In partnership with the Osceola County Council on
Aging, this program will mirror many of the same topics, issues
and experiences of "traditional" leadership in a
non-traditional way.
Capitalizing on this often underutilized
resource, our retirees and senior citizens, we will able to
capture their strength and experience to tackle community
issues. This program will engage another population of leaders
enabling us to move forward in achieving the community's vision
for a preferred vision. Leadership Legends will also enable
us to capitalize on the Florida Department of Elder Affairs
program "Communities for a Lifetime", an initiative
to make Florida elder ready by recognizing that our elders
are assets and community building resources.
Leadership
Legends will run concurrently with the adult Leadership Osceola
program, mid-February to June. Over the course of the program
participants are introduced to our community including social
services, criminal justice, education, healthcare, governmental
services, environment, economic development, community planning/vision,
arts and culture. Through real life experiences, the class
learns of the strengths and challenges of the community, in
which they live and work. On a bi-weekly basis every other
Wednesday, the program leads the participants through a series
of invigorating and insightful daylong experiences that cover
a multitude of community oriented subjects and issues. No
stone is left unturned in the pursuit of community orientation
and leadership awareness. In addition, seasoned moderators
will bring to the program exciting, skill-based knowledge
and a new focus on community leadership skills development.
Leadership
Legends encourages participation from anyone who wants to
make a difference in Osceola County. The primary beneficiary
will be the Osceola County community.

Because of the partnership with Osceola Council on Aging and support of Osceola County, Tuition is just $50 and includes all expenses associated with the program. Transportation is provided by the Osceola Council on Aging.
A limited number of scholarships are available for those in need.
